August 28th, 2006: PCP playing surface is back! After extensive mole damage in the offseason, the playing surface at PCP is back to 100%. "We are very happy to report that fans will see a sea of green watching at game at PCP." reported the headgroundskeeper. See picture below:
PCP welcomed Hiroshi Ogo from Yokohama, Japan on June 24th. Yoshi hit a massive homerun to left field, triggering a standing ovation from the crowd on the homerun porch. PCP management thanks Yoshi for making his appearance and for stopping by Schuhs' Saloon for refreshments after a nice game of wiffleball.
Update on PCP field conditions: Please see picture below. Mole damage is 95% gone! The turf is in amazing condition after much work and watering. Home plate has been dug in and is in it's official position!
**Note from the head groundskeeper: (R. Schuh - March 30, 2006) "PCP endured some serious damage from moles over the winter months. Areas affected are around the picther's mound, 2nd base, and short centerfield. The area has been cleared and re-seeded. We at PCP are confident that the field be looking good for the summer months, but some early spring games may be postponed for the new grass to take effect. Management is looking into the option of field turf, but many factors have to be analyzed such as potential injuries, cost, and overall visual appeal. PCP management is looking into possible remedies into the mole problem as it is top priority to maintain a beautiful field for both players and fans. On another note, the corporate billboards will be installed on the right field fence for the upcoming season. Sponsors have been lining up at the door during the offseason. PCP will continue to grow and expand as it did last year with addition of the VIP Homerun Porch. Management is also looking into purchasing a tarp for over homeplate and the batter's box area for protection from rain. We are excited for the upcoming season and can't wait to see you soon at PCP! Be sure to pick up your season tickets at Schuhs' Saloon!" PCP officially opened on July 4, 2005 Below are some pictures from the first day of wiffleball. It was a beautiful day and a good time had by all. The homerun porch was packed with energized fans. Many homeruns were hit, including 3 straight balls hit out of the park in left field by John Schuh. An amazing display of power! PCP uses only golf ball sized wiffleballs. The smaller the size, the greater the difficulty! We prefer Easton Pro Stix bats. On larger fields, we prefer JUGS Polyball Wiffleballs. They last longer and have true flight. A pitching mound, warning track, foul poles, and batters box are all in the master plan of PCP. Extra Seating along the third baseline is in development.
